China EHS Director (SHE Group - China)
Job Summary: Perform essential tasks and assignments to ensure Flint Group operations maintain and improve compliance for all matters related to safety, environmental, health and regulatory management within China/Malaysia/HK.
Essential Functions:
Competencies/Skill Requirements
• Demonstrate development of technical writing and verbal communication skills in Chinese and English.
• Ability to effectively communicate with personnel within Flint Group, suppliers and regulatory agencies.
• Must demonstrate ability to command respect from operational personnel for recommended compliance recommendations.
• Develop a core competency in addition to essential safety and environmental skills that will benefit department. Be the “go to” professional for that core competency.
• Working knowledge of computers and proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Lotus Notes and statistical software.
• Position requires thorough understanding of key Chinese safety, environmental and regulatory requirements as they pertain to the chemical industry.
Supervision Received:
• Works with supervisor and technical resources to prepare project plans and interpret data.
• Able to execute project and contribute value with support of supervisor and technical contacts.
• Results are reviewed as required to assure progress and proper approach.
• Written documents are to be peer reviewed prior to release.
Responsibilities
• Guide and coach manufacturing site personal to essential matters related to environmental and safety regulatory compliance. Conduct and coach training sessions as necessary.
• Manage and ensure regulatory compliance for purchased raw materials.
• Ensure compliance for exported finished products and materials.
• For those Flint Group sites assigned, obtain, maintain and monitor operational permits (air, waste water, storm water, hazardous waste discharge etc.).
• Demonstrate increasing degree of independent working skills; manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrate ability to delegate appropriate tasks to other personnel.
• Support Flint Group Corporate strategic goals generally and specifically actively support and nurture Safety and Environmental Principals.
• Support operations by investigating and implementing projects to improve SHE and regulatory management. Trouble shoot problems related to SHE matters at the manufacturing sites.
• Support Flint Group site operations as necessary to produce external customer chemical usage reports such as VOC/HAP, CPDS, MSDS and others.
Qualifications/Experience:
• BS degree in Environmental Sciences or other applicable technical degree.
• Minimum experience; 3 years experience as an Associate Environmental and Safety Specialist while maintaining a high performance level or a technical degree with a minimum of 5 or equivalent years of applicable experience having demonstrated a high level of performance.
• Should have working experience with multi-national company serving North American and European markets.
