1不知多少年之前，就在茫茫大海边，住着一位好姑娘，名叫阿纳贝儿李，姑娘纯洁又多情，永求真爱迷众生。

2我是少年她少女，两小无猜意绵绵，相亲相爱不分离，就连爱情小天使，言不由衷忌意生。

3所以多少年以前，茫茫大海波浪翻，乌云之中寒风起，吹病阿纳贝儿李，她高贵亲戚纷纷至，把她从家中抬出去，埋在滔滔大海边，昏暗巨大的墓穴里，

4天上的天使不快活，嫉妒男孩和小李，原来这就是为什么（海边的居民人人知），乌云之中寒风起，纯洁可爱的小姑娘，一缕香魂回家乡。

5可是我们的美爱情，比起那些成年人，比起那些聪明人，天真烂漫不变心，即使肉体相分离，精神永远在一起，不论是天上小精灵，还是海上老妖精，不能把我们来分离，

6每当明月来照耀，我就梦见美丽的李，每当我看见天上星，好像看见她眼睛，每晚来到大海旁，聆听大海波浪声，躺在她的墓室边，寸心如割泪涟涟，我亲爱的未婚妻，我的生命和心肝，我要永远爱惜你，生生死死不分离。

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,

    In a kingdom by the sea,

That a maiden there lived whom you may know

    By the name of Annabel Lee;

And this maiden she lived with no other thought

    Than to love and be loved by me.



She was a child and I was a child,

    In this kingdom by the sea;

But we loved with a love that was more than love----

    I and my Annabel Lee----

With a love that the winged seraphs of Heaven

    Coveted her and me.



And this was the reason that,long ago,

    In this kingdom by the sea,

A wind blew out of a cloud by night chilling

    My beautiful Annabel Lee;

So that her highborn kinsman came

    And bore her away from me,

To shut her up in a sepulchre

    In this kingdom by the sea.



The angels,not half so happy in the Heaven,

    Went envying her and me:----

    Yes!----That was the reason (as all men know,

    In this kindom by the sea)

That the wind came out of the cloud by night,

    Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.



But our love it was stronger by far than the love

    Of those who were older than we----

    Of many far wiser than we----

And neither the angels in Heaven above,

    Nor the demons down under the sea,

Can ever dissever my soul from the soul

    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:----



For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams

    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

（1809-49）生于波士顿，父母为流浪艺人。一八一一年父母双亡，由弗吉尼亚州里士满富商约翰·爱伦收养。爱伦夫妇把他带往英国，一八一五至二○年在英国读书。返回里士满（Richmond）后与爱伦反目，始终没有和解，后者一八三四年逝世时，遗嘱中对坡只字未提。曾入佛吉尼亚大学，未几辍学，投效美国陆军，升为军士长，后入西点军校。故意犯过被开除后，在巴尔的摩、里士满、纽约与费城以卖文为生，受雇于若干期刊，其中包括《南方文学使者》。一八三六年和十三岁的表妹佛吉尼亚·克莱姆结婚，十年后妻子死于肺病。其后精神日益失常，终至于神智昏迷，死于巴尔的摩一沟渠里。出版过三本诗集∶《帖木儿》（Tamerlane，1827），《艾尔·阿拉夫》（Al Aaraaf，1829），《诗集》(Poems, 1831)。后来的大部分作品──诗、短篇小说、评论文章──均在杂志上发表。短篇小说最初收入《述异集》(Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque, 1840)里，余者收入《故事集》(Tales, 1845)。其他作品尚有研究创作心理的文章《我得之矣∶一首散文诗》(Eureka: A Prose Poem, 1848)与《阿瑟·戈登．皮姆的故事》(The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, 1838)。.
